Ok towing and Internet sleuths.....there was once upon a time a member named @swatski . He hasn't been active in awhile, but I've tagged him anyway.

He towed his AR190 out west to Powell and Meade from his home in Missouri. I remember it was shortly after he had upgraded his tow vehicle to a Land Cruiser.

I've been searching for that thread for 45min through various versions of Google, this boards search, and anything else I could think of.

Can someone help me find his post about towing out there? He had some info on range and coat and capability I'm looking for.

Any help?!?

Use the advance search feature, enter “Swatski” in the “Post by” field and you’ll see all of his posts. You can narrow the search by adding “land” in the keyword field.
 
Hell, I started this thread, and it doesn't have the info I'm looking for.


Specifically, I'm looking for a comment he made about towing the 240 at 80mph, and how often he had to stop.

Buddy and I are planning on taking his Ducatis to COTA next March. Going to tow with my Rivian, and it'll take 14 stops to charge to get there. Felt very similar to his experience with the LC and the boat heading out west.

I still miss the towing from my Q7 Diesel! I'd get just under 15mpg! Now I get 10mpg with my gas Q7....and the tank is significantly smaller (-20%).

I'm really curious to see how towing with the Rivian works out. "By the numbers" I should be able to make a trip to most of the local lakes and back without having to stop for a charge. That's estimating around 1.3mi/kWh while towing. That would get me right at 100mi range from a 131kWh battery. Of course I can charge to 100 from the house pretty easy, but will likely not do that on the return trip home.

There are fast chargers between all the lakes and the house, so I'm not completely worried, but we'll see how the family dynamics work out for all of it. Initial thoughts are we'll be fine.
 
I tow my 21ft with the LC and get about the same mileage as swatski (8) through the mountains out here.
I’d say the range is closer to 180 miles though. These things turn on the gas light when you’ve still got 5 gallons in the tank.

Yes, yes we are. Plan is to trailer a couple of Ducati's down, then ride them to/from/around the venue. Originally had the plan to just ride the bikes down, but the StreetFighter only gets ~100mi to a tank of fuel and the Monster is wildly uncomfortable after about 3-4hrs in the saddle. It's 8hrs from Buffalo to Louisville, then another 16hrs to Austin from Louisville. I'll drive down to Louisville, then grab a trailer, a buddy, and the bikes, then head south from there. Likely 3 days of driving both directions, plus a couple days at the venue.

We used to go to Indy for GP every year until they stopped attending that venue. Shame really, it had the highest attendance (in numbers) of any race on the series, but because IMS is such a big venue it always looked empty. I think the riders didn't like it either because it's a pancake flat circuit. Last year we were there we (quite literally) ran into Nicky Hayden as he was walking from the team tent to the garage. Super nice guy despite me almost knocking him over and spilling beer everywhere.

I never made it Indy. Got to go to Laguna Seca bank in the day, and to COTA in 23. I think I might have the wife talked into going again in 26 and taking our Ducati as well, we’ll see. Hope to have a second Ducati by then for her to ride herself.

It’s a much shorter trip for me though at 12-13hrs from North AL.
