Half of my underwater LEDs finally failed:

So, I'm ditching them for these:

Very cool - send us some pics when it's installed. BTW, are the "ice cube drivers" meant to prevent them from overheating or what's the deal?

Yea, pics for sure this weekend! I'm not really sure about the drivers... that was a surprise to me when I opened the package. I thought using an Ice Cube Tray was a pretty cool idea for potting though. This is all the info I got from the website:

I bought my setup on Amazon:

They were obviously not bronze as described, and I will tell you I am not really impressed with CS. They did immediately respond to my first email, but not the followup. Not really a big deal though, it was not super important and it could have been an oversight (Monday or Friday guy).

I'll post up with more details on the install when I get more pics and hopefully I'll get 'em wet one night this weekend. I'm working on another night LED solution for the boat and I'll add that when I get it done... I have a LOT to do this weekend!

More to come....

They are just the voltage converters for the LED. They encase them in epoxy resin to make them waterproof.

Finally got out on the boat Mother's Day and purposely launched late so we could experience our two new light upgrades.

Pleasantly surprised and happy with my Boatpluglight.com twin Typhons. Completely dark and the water was really murky with the outgoing tide, they are much brighter in person and way brighter than my old setup.

I think the new normal is to launch mid day and recover after sunset so one thing I really wanted was a spot/flood I could temporarily mount rather than holding a hand held spot light. I found one I almost bought at almost $300, then I thought about it and built my own for $60... and at that price I was able to make two! I added two 2 conductor thru hull quick disconnects at the bow by the cup holders and a lead long enough that I can attach to the grab rails or the fwd cleats. I am going to add two more QD's aft as well as make up a 15' extension so I could either hand hold the light or attach it to the bimini or tower as spreaders etc.

Again I was REALLY happy with the lights I chose (we only ran one that night) as we could see the reflectors on day markers out to 3/4 of a mile or better.

Here are the lights I bought Nilight NoctHunt and if anyone wants info on the mounts I can add that. I do intend to change out the QD's because they are a little lighter duty than I thought they would be. I considered trolling motor QD's but I think thats a little overkill.
