This guy has been roaming around our area for a few weeks. He’s been in my neighbor’s fence a few times eating pears off their trees. Since we don’t live in an area with bears, I’ve driven around in our golf cart a dozen times looking for it, but haven’t seen it until yesterday.

Apparently he was first sighted and has been tracked roaming all the way from northern MS and across north AL. They says he’s just making his way thru the area. He hasn’t messed with anything, no trash cans turned over or anything broken into, so animal control hasn’t tried to trap/catch him. People have just been instructed not to feed him or approach him. He’s just eating fruit off trees and vegetables from peoples gardens. And he likes just laying around in the shade. There were probably 20-30 people 50yrds from him taking photos and he didn’t care at all.

Be careful. Black Bears are cool until they’re not.

I think I found my issue now that I have a temp gun. The calipers on both sides are within a few degrees of each other. That tells me it's not braking related. The front of the hubs are definitely warmer. It was cooler out today so it was only 120*ish on the hot side. So it's not like it's boiling over or anything, but I also haven't been on any really long drives. Storage is 11 miles and the ramp is 7 miles away. I have new bearings so I'll replace that side and check again. The wheel spins freely so I don't feel like I tightened the castle nut too tight, but it's a very slight chance it's a hair too tight creating the extra heat. I'll check it before I pull everything apart, but since I have new bearings I might as well just change them. 20250803_193453.jpg20250803_193504.jpg20250803_193521.jpg20250803_193535.jpg20250803_193550.jpg20250803_193559.jpg

When you jack a wheel off the ground you should be able to feel some play in the bearing, just a small clunk.

Yup, it does now an ever so small clunk, but it's there. I tried backing off the nut to the next hole but it was way too loose. We'll see how it does. Dunno why I didn't buy one of these bearing tools before. I have so many trailers and hate hand packing bearings. I will say the timken bearings look to be more robust. I still didn't really see a reason for the added heat. If I still have the differential I'll back off the nut to the next hole. I just feel that's far too loose. 20250804_105254.jpg20250804_105301.jpg

Crushing Russian bs while grilling lunch today, thank you @FSH 210 Sport and @Coult45 for the tags. On the boat, at the beach.
