Ordered the direct replacement from Amazon, it came OEM Yamaha. The Amazon product has two different pictures- top is exactly what my current plugs look like. Bottom is what I was sent as OEM - see the difference? They’re actually bigger in radius than my OEM too. I’m lost here.

Is yours the dog style lock or the twist.
That part numbet is for the older design

Twist. It’s a 2020, and the exact part number per Partzilla

Yours should be

From my many dealings with boats.net and partzilla ( same company) is the pictures can be unreliable

i rebuilt mine last fall..my notes say i used-

F3F-67609-09-00

one of your images of the box says - FOR-67609-09
order page looks correct, but they sent the FOR version?

The main order page from amazon at the top says FOR not F3F

I've found that if you look by part number on Amazon, you really have to look closely sometimes, as they're horrible with giving me specific part numbers - they'll mix in anything close, and there's no rhyme or reason as to why the list of parts is so jumbled. It SHOULD show you the actual part number you're looking for first, and after all those items, any related items or similar part numbers should be shown.

Searching there, the first result was the old style plugs, while the second item was yours. They also had it ridiculously priced - $138.20, and no, that wasn't for both, that listing stated it was for a single plug rebuild kit!

Amazon really ticked me off with this one... I even paid for shipping to get it here in one day - should've looked closer at the listing.

Something that I learned to force better results from Amazon is to use "+" sign additions for a search. It's not foolproof, but it helps.

As dumb as it seems, searching

F3F+67609+09+00

results in ONLY showing the rebuild kit of that stock number for me - nothing else is listed, at all.

Problem is, I forget it all the time, and I only remember it when I have a frustrating search experience like you had

That's a good hint. When I was doing this search, I was also in the middle of about 100 other things too - $35 mistake I'll learn from.

Update: FINALLY received the new plugs from a shop on Ebay yesterday. They look correct, I'll probably swap them out tonight.

Per @drewkaree comment on a previous thread about swapping them every season - I now know why this might be a thing. The difference in the rubber ring pliability in the new plug and old plugs is incredible. New rings feel soft and willing to expand with very little resistance. Old rubber is very stiff.

Beyond removing them when not in use, I wonder if there's a conditioning compound available that would work to keep them soft...

Anmut, why did you replace them? We have the same boat, year and color. Preventative?

Mine are the original from 2016, and still is great shape, rubber is very pliable. I have a spare new oem set and there is no difference. I take them out and clean mine off after every outing. Spray with silicone spray a few times a season.
I rarely get water on top of them if there is water on top its very little

I put new twin impellers on and after the install, I had a lot of water pushing past them and into the boat. I thought it was related to the plugs being deficient, but later found that my cleanout tray drain was plugged and most likely the culprit.

I ended up buying new ones anyway (and o-rings) to see if I can finally get the water to stop coming up through the cleanout hatches. Like my previous post stated, the difference between new and old is pretty shocking.

Edit: to be fair to the original plugs, they did have 270 hours on them.

I got 410 on mine. You talked me in to it, I am order new ones now.

I wonder if the supplier was different for the rings, or they had a better rubber for your larger rings?

Anmut, 303 helps, but not much. Maybe the thickness of the rings has something to do with that. I got aftermarket rebuild kits too, so I'm guessing the rubber isn't the same quality

Per my original post on this thread, DOUBLE CHECK your part number if looking on Amazon - I had to order from eBay to save the $25 extra that the dealer wanted...
