21 Yamaha AR195S - On going build thread

~First ride out


~Odd our trailers do not come spares. Upgraded wheels and used an OEM as my spare



~2nd battery install. Wanted the battery as far back as possible. Makes for more storage space


~Moved the marinco switch farther forward than the OEM location. Making it easier to turn on and off each time.


~Installed the big ugly Yeti. The stock freebie wasn’t cutting it

~Installed the optional SeaDek. Went with cool gray which may not be the ideal color choice but I like it

~OEM strapping came loose both times I trailered the boat. Boat buckles were in order. The OEM location doesn’t allow for the strapping to sit correctly so the frame needed drilled.

~Both my wife and I had trouble docking the boat (damn jet boats ?). Trying out the Cobra jet AK Deluxe to help a little.

I did the same thing with my wheels. Throw your other factory wheel out there for sale for others who need a spare. I sold mine very quickly and recouped like $100.

the sea deck does look good. i placed an order a while ago and a lady called me, said none were an exact match and sent me a pic of the 3 sample colors on top of whats on the boat. Sent me a refund and told me it would be a few months for an exact match for our color. But it does look real nice! I see it on the back also ?

Thanks guys. Wish we had better weather to start enjoying it. I would say out of everything the seadek was the best upgrade so far. Keeps the kids from slipping and looks good. Very excited for the Minn Kota to come in. Spot lock and the solo launch will be fun. I’ll most likely be on one of the videos where I launch the boat and forget to turn on the Minn Kota and will need to swim after the boat ?.

Yes but not huge. Looking to add an amp and sub to start, tower speakers later. My plan was audio last, as the boat comes with wet sounds and a decent receiver. Getting the boat ready to slay some fish is #1.

Awesome! Looking good @Justin2431! Already done some of the same stuff on my 21' AR195 as well. On your NOCO on-battery charger did you do the AC exterior plug? If so, by chance have any pictures of where you mounted it at?

??After talking with NOCO they talked me into two separate minis, one for the front and one for the rear. I’m using the duel plug AC set up. It ended up at the top backrest of the swim deck

Awesome, you're the man. Thank you! The plug will definitely be a winter project for me. Did you use a 2 inch hole saw? I really like the placement on the back deck like you did so strongly leaning towards doing the same! Also just out of curiosity why a separate mini for the front? I presume for your trolling motor battery?

2 inch hole saw fits perfectly. Using two minis ($90 each) saves a little money and I wanted the charger by the batteries being charged (starting batteries in the back, trolling in the front). The mini charges two group 27’s in about 10hours. Don’t have a need for a $$$ 4 bank charger that can do it in 5hrs.

Parts are starting to come in. The helix8 GN4 is HUGE! Planning to mount on passenger side facing the driver otherwise it would take up the entire cockpit. Ordered some square aluminum stock I will have to modify to mount
Hydrophase installed.

As of right now audio is on the bottom of the list but found this 4 channel amp that feeds my stock wet sounds perfectly. $80 on Amazon warehouse deals couldn’t pass it up. Sounds good and is extremely loud. Not sure if it needs anything else. Added 1 inch spacers under the amp for cooling and keeping the water off.

Hey Justin! Great pictures and build thread so far.... Quick question for you, can you comment on the quality of the stock WetSounds speakers? I'm taking delivery of my 195S in April and the sound system is an important fun factor for me. Did you find the stock setup fairly adequate? Thanks in advance!

The stock wets sounds sounded good it was the volume that was an issue. On the water it was too quiet. Plan on an amp ASAP! The little amp I bought and installed made the stereo usable. Can hear it with no problems at full throttle. They should have amped the 195s from the factory!

Waiting on the Minn Kota but the hummingbird came in. This is the mount I came up with. Way overkill but wanted a solid mount. Did a brushed aluminum finish I may paint hammered black at some point

I’ll second that on the stock speakers if the engine is off. Waiting on some JL myself.
