I got a great deal on the Garmin 74cv and decided to let my local guy install it for me, I prefer to let each do what they do best...

Are you using the unit for charting only? or did you have them also install the fish finder transducer? Looks good by the way. I like it.

Michael, I got the unit with the transducer, so it's installed as well... it's pretty neat to see all the stuff on the bottom of the water here...

Did you have the transducer installed in hull or on the transom?

On the hull... I will try to remember to get a pic of it tomorrow.

Here is the pic of the transducer

I recommend the g05 I got it from west marine with the skimmer transducer for $379.

Install looks factory. Took about 2 hrs to install.

I did see that one, even though the install looks much cleaner, I am a Garmin guy... so it was the choice I had to make... Very nice install there!

Now that we are in season, how has this been working for you? I have seen some mixed reviews with the simrad. Also could you post a pic of the transducer?

It’s been working great, no issues. It is intermetient on depth once I go past 15-20mph.

Over all I love it. I will say in rougher waters it’s hard to click the right spot on a touch screen. But that’s not too often.

I epoxied the transducer down in the bottom on The right side of the pump. If I were to do it again I’d probably put it next to the factory spot, I have seen people report readings at all speeds from that location.
