Does anyone have an anchor they can recommend that will fit the front anchor locker on a 2023 AR250? I bought one, but the door would not close with it hanging and I haven’t really seen a different design that might work without causing interference with the door closing due to being too tall above where it’s designed to hang.

Here is a photo of the anchor label from my 2021 AR250.

The crown on the Danforth is taller, more offset from the stock than the usual sliding ring anchor that I think they design for.

On the sliding ring...the crown does not stick up as much over the stock. Personally, I don't like sliding ring anchors.

I have a stainless steel rod that hangs my box anchor in that compartment. Cut the rod to fit and insert it through the folded box anchor.

I tried the Five Oceans version (Amazon.com : Five Oceans Boat Anchor - Fluke Anchor, 9 Lb, Galvanized Steel Slip Ring Boat Anchor, Boat Anchors, Small Boat Anchor for Pontoon, Dinghies, Fishing Boats, Small Boats - FO4557 : Sports & Outdoors) but the stock was too short. The 1st one I bought the crown was too tall. I ended up with a Fortress FX-7 and cut about 3/4' off the stock.

I am outfitting our 252 and read about this on another site. It works perfectly! I have a couple of tweaks to make, but it’s definitely a winner!

what size (wt) box anchor do you hang there? do you know the rod's diameter?

i was using a 3/8" piece of rebar to hold my 13lb (baby size) box, but it wasn't rigid enough for the wt. i lined the compartment with some sea-deck-like pad and just laid it in there. now using a 19lb box and it just lays in there on 200' of rode. would like to try another bar.

I have the small box anchor (19 lb.) and used a 1/2” steel rod. I also slipped (heated and hammered) 1/2” PEX one both ends to help keep the anchor centered. I’m still working on the install and have ordered a piece of 3/4” HDPE to fabricate new anchor hangers. I also slit and slipped a tennis ball over that tab of metal located towards the bottom of the locker to keep the anchor from bouncing around.

I'd like to start a pool where we all take bets about which one was bought. We could split the pot, and put some money back into the forum for hosting fees! 🤣

Cc: @WiskyDan maybe that big swine you've got could fit in there, using this method? I know that thing is a beast!

My anchor locker is still empty. I have the small box anchor under my left front seat and a big ass danforth under the right front seat. YAMAHA BOAT ANCHOR KIT
SBT-YS600-00-14 is the one that will fit according do a local dealer. I actually think the actuator arm on my door isn’t installed correctly and that’s why it’s makes contact with the crown of the anchor.

Is there a pic of what's at play here? I'm not certain on your older model (maybe @zipper can chime in), but really, on all of these boats, that actuator is just a gas strut to keep it from slamming back down on your hand - you should be able to move that thing wherever you want, as long as you can keep it operating smoothly. There's not much to these - latch w/metal catch, the hinges themselves, and the gas strut. Some have even moved the hinges to better serve their needs, so there should be some solution to your problem, but none of us know what we're looking at.

Is the boat near you, or when will you have access to it to snap some pics? Alternatively, there's a lot of pics already on the forum here, or Google images should help you pull up what we need to see. @zipper had some great info above, as well as an older model like yours, so he's got some of the best experience and direction for you, given his familiarity with that model

This is how I got the anchor in the locker.

Mine didn’t come with an actuator / gas strut, it opens way over center so it’s not going to shut on you unexpectedly. There’s also a small cable leash between the hull and the hatch to keep the weight of the hatch from being on the hinges.

Why not just remove the gas strut and see if that allows the anchor to fit, if it does see if the gas strut can be relocated, if it cannot then just get a small piece of cable and make a leash that allows the hatch to lay far enough over center if possible.
