Hello everyone, new here from warm and sunny Arizona. Wanted to start a thread to follow the journey and the enjoyment. Family and I picked up an end of year clearance on brand new 2024 Yamaha AR190 earlier this month for a steal!

Like all things I can’t leave anything alone or stock. So first things first was to remove the emblems/badges and stickers as some weren’t fully adhered to begin with. This gave the boat a sleek and clean look.

Next was to have the glass tinted to help combat the Az sun that we face.

After that was the boat name decal! Family and I came up with “Memory Maker” as that’s what we will be doing, making memories.

Added a big air wake tower mirror, wakeboard rack and flag holder to the wake tower. Not a fan of the polish but it’s subtle.

After that was the jet boat pilot steering enhancement kit which was very nice on the water.

Took it out last Saturday for the initial break in per Yamahas manual and then enjoyed the day with family and the dog.

Next major upgrade will be the jet boat pilot traction pads (complete kit with the optional pieces) which should be here this week.

Well that’s it for now. I’ll update this thread with upgrades and outings. 🤙🏻.

Congratulations! Looks like you have a beautiful lake to enjoy with the new boat.
Thanks man! There are several within a 1.5 hr drive to me (Saguaro lake, canyon lake, Apache lake, lake pleasant, Roosevelt and Bartlett). Might be Az but lots of water somewhere excited to use it plenty this season.

Where did you get the window tinted? I am in Gilbert.
It’s called Arizona Tint Source, located at
2310 S Airport Blvd Chandler, AZ 85286.

First time using them but referred by my mobile guy and I was very pleased with their work. Fair pricing, offered a military/first responder discount. And upfront with the project. They told me it wouldn’t be 100% like a vehicle for several reasons. One they tinted it outside. Two boat gaskets on the window are larger then weatherstripping gaskets for a car so not able to get as close. And with boat windows having different curves makes it a tad more tricky but I’m happy with the way my windows came out.

To make sure you can make plenty of memories that are all good this summer, be sure and add an onboard battery charger and keep it plugged in whenever the boat is not on the water. This make sure your battery is always fully charged and ready for an outing.

Any that you’d recommend? I have 110 outlets on the side where it’s parked so that wouldn’t be an issue.

Jet boat pilots sea deck is in. Stripping the back factory swim deck was a mission. Not a lot of before pictures, sorry.

Before with factory deck and factory carpet inside.

Stripping going slowly. Once stripped laid the new stuff down. Far more coverage. Looks better and feels fantastic on the feet.

Out with the factory speakers in with the new wetsounds recon speakers. Vastly louder over stock. Need to add the wetsounds head unit with built in amp. I think this will be a solid set up for the time being.

NOCO seems to be the most popular but my preference is the Victron Energy IP67

Also get the Victron smart shunt so you always know what the state of charge is in your battery.

Well tackled the wetsounds head unit install. Fit perfectly in the factory spot. Was afraid to cut the factory harness so cut the factory connections from factory head unit and built a plug and play harness using the wetsounds plug. Sounds great and looks clean.

Factory unit

Make shift harness. Twisted, soldered and heat shirked. No factory wouldn’t directly plug to Wetsounds unit as plugs were backwards.

Overall happy. Looks great sounds better.

Great post and nice job on all the upgrades. I had a 2013 AR195 and we had it for 8 years. Got out of boating for a couple years due to kids going to college and work, but just picked up a 2024 left over AR250 over the winter. Just finished break in and now working on the mods all the factory decals will be coming off the rear of the boat this weekend as the new graphics / name are getting made as we speak, we went with "Serious JuJu." (We are Sammy Hagar Fans - LOL). We are in Northeast Ohio on the PA line, so allot of great options around us here!!! Enjoy your times on the Memory Maker!

Awesome thanks, I’ll check it out
I highly recommend one of these as well, it makes plugging your charger in a breeze.

Here is the smart shunt I mentioned

The smart shunt will keep very accurate track of how much power you have used out of your battery, it is configurable for all batter types. It will track Ah, KWh, voltage both into and out of the battery and will show state of charge on your battery and it will update the SOC in real time as you drive around the lake and the motor puts some charge back in your battery. It also has another tap to measure voltage only on another battery. Anything less than this device will be a guess at best on how much battery capacity you have left.

You may find down the road, perhaps in the not too distant future you will want to add another battery, the smart shunt can then be used for your house battery and the auxiliary battery voltage monitor can be used to keep an eye on your start battery. And the only way to know how much “house” battery you will want is with one of these smart shunts. There are lots of threads here on this site about adding a second battery, some excellent, some good and some bad. What you will want is a system where you turn it on at the beginning of the day and turn it off at the end of the day, everything else is automatic.

Since your boat has a single battery, you should get a jump pack to keep on your boat just in case you come up short on starting power at some point.

You can get really good first aid kits at Sam’s club for less than $30 and they are very complete, and they come with refill ordering slips so you can replace any items in case you use them.

Get a good anchor system as well. Plenty of rope (rode), chain (one foot of chain for every foot of boat length) and a danforth style anchor. Scope or how much rope you pay out to hold the boat is 5:1 on calmer days and 7:1 on windy or rougher water days. A proper anchoring system is not just for a day on the water, it is also a safety item and can mean the difference between staying on the water or the rocks.

Thanks for all the info, battery charger/jump pack will be next for sure.

I have a full trauma kit on the boat (my background is military fire fighter and retired law enforcement).

As for anchor I got one in the front of the bow. Not sure I have the exact length for chain but plenty of rope and anchor weight is 15lbs. The last outing it worked great in the soft muck in a cove on a windy day. Later tried again in another cove that was rocky and the anchor kept sliding. Tied off on shore helped.
