Sucked oyster into pump

Hello all, first post here.

Sucked an oyster shell into my 195 the other day.

pulled the pump today. Obviously the wear ring and impeller are toast. Should I worry about resurfacing the ring onboard of the surface plate which got a bit grooved from the shells that were sucked up? The rest of the inside of the tunnel looks good, Yamaha definitely missed some sealant so I’ll fix that when I’m in there.

After I picked up the oyster, absolutely. Cavitated like hell with the state of the impeller and wear ring. Just wondering if it’s worth it to spend time with an angle grinder and flapper disc to even out the surface of the ring attached to the transom plate while I am changing out the impeller and wear ring

I'm in agreement with above, New prop and wear ring and good to go - however if you have some grooves that you can feel with the bare hand I've always run some fine wet/dry sand paper to take the edges off. Anything to keep cavitation down especially since you have it all apart now.
