So the port side start/stop button on the E series is giving me fits. Sometimes it works flawlessly, the next time is completely hit or miss. If I beat on the dash Fonzie style, it seems to work most times. It's not the connections to the switch as they have been thoroughly checked. My question would be is the switch serviceable, or am I needing a new one? Is there a way to take it apart and check for corrosion or add some dielectric grease?

You could try dielectric grease, but you'll probably need a new switch.

Sounds like you need a new switch….. if it was me, I’d pull the switch and put an ohm meter on both sets of contacts that will probably tell the tale. The failing switch will most likely show higher ohm readings and or an open ckt if it is in a position where it wouldn’t have worked.

Based on your description the contacts on the switch are either loose, corroded or both. Either way it needs to be fixed asap and or replaced.

I put in new switches on mine last year. Ordered 2 from yamahasportsplaza.
