I just brought home our new boat and found this matt in the center locker. Can anyone help explain what this matt is for?

That's the ski locker floor mat. It protects the gelcoat finish in the locker when skis are placed in there.
 
Thanks, so i'll install it under the ballast bag! Appreciate your help!
 
I lay mine on top of the ballast bag to protect the bag.
