Has anyone added a 2nd amp and/or tower speakers to a 252SE or 252SD?

1) How did you split off the input signal from the existing wetsounds amp into the 2nd amp? Its a mess of wires going directly in, there's no rca style plugs.

2) The tower has a covered hole on top, is that meant for speakers? Or did you mount them using clamps?

Thanks!

@Adrian @ JB Solutions I believe has the cables to tie into the existing system. We plan to add speakers eventually as well which we would use clamp style speakers.

Yup! We offer a t-harness that provides RCA outputs to each zone, as well as a remote turn on wire.

You can use the covered hole but some tower speakers come with a 1/4” rubber grommet which is a beater solution, since the hole is so large. You wouldn’t want to leave that open all the time.

I ordered one, thanks! Scheduled to come in today.

What's the best method then for mounting them? Don't the OEM tower speakers on the wake editions attach on top of that grommet area?

It really depends on the towers. They all have different dimensions and mounting points. On my personal vessel I had to have them mounted below the tower and I placed them so it was very difficult to hit your head on them. Took some time to figure out exact best location.

Do you by chance have a picture? Are the wires exposed where they run out of the "hole" and to the speaker?

On my last boat I had them under mounted and crushed my head 100 times on them so was thinking to put them on top if possible.

Wires were hidden as part of the speaker mount design and utilized a grommet that came with it.

I happen to be at a dealership yesterday, comparing the SD and XD towers. The 255XD tower has an additional welded mount for the speakers to mount on that isn’t present on the SE/SD tower. Wish I grabbed a picture to share. Below is from the dealerships listing for that boat (‘24 255XD), best I could find to share.

@Adrian @ JB Solutions - Just to ensure I am following can you confirm your adapter works in different applications:
  1. Keeping the OEM WS Amp, and providing RCAs for each of the channels to add an additional amp(s) - Tower speakers in this application.
  2. Ditched the OEM WS Amp and just using the RCAs to supply replacement amp(s). - EG Repowering the system.
@Dr_Zao - Please keep us posted with what solution you are going with, and how you are planning to adjust the volume of the tower speakers.

Ah, so you found a bracket that goes over the rectangle shaped part of the tower with the grommets... makes total sense. Is that a custom bracket or is it made by wet sounds? I'm looking at wet sounds rev 10s and the bracket is C shaped for round tubing.

I noticed on mine also has 2 threaded holes on top of a different tower bar (more towards the middle) than the bar with the grommets here:

@VitaminSea I will definitely post updates when finished, I'm surprised there's not more people who have done this. For volume, my thinking is the best case is to tie it to the rear zone (same one that controls the transom speakers)... then tweak the gain on the amp itself to get it to mesh well with the rest of the system (im doing a dedicated amp for the towers).

Yes it works for both 1 and 2. It is a T-Harness so in application 2 you just don’t use the end that would go in the amplifier. You could also cut off the end to sell with your OEM amplifier. We also offer speaker harnesses to make replacing the amp a breeze.

I have the kicker 9” horns, the brackets came with it.

Found more photos online of the tower on the XD…. Initially I thought it was a bracket that connected into the threaded holes on the SD tower, but that does not seem to be the case.
