I have had my 207 docked at the marina all summer, and am now topping out at around 30 mph at full throttle with just 2 people onboard. There is a decent amount of build-up/grime on the bottom of the boat - is it logical to think that is causing the issue?

Yeah could be a good place to start, I'd get it on the trailer or lift and get it scrubbed clean and check the intake grate as well.

Some members have seen 10-15 MPH loss from growth on the hull.

you may also have a damaged wear ring or impeller, that would cause cavitation and loss of top speed... I would pull the boat out and inspect like genwrx suggested.

It's the grime. Doesn't take much at all to kill top end speed.

Thanks guys. I pulled the boat yesterday and plan to give it a good clean/inspection today before the weekend. A lot of people have told Simple Green works great to clean the scum off the boat... has anyone used it?

I hope it's nothing that serious -obviously. I haven't done much with it this year only been out a few times, but each time I took it out it seemed to get slower. Hoping it's just the progressive build up.

Any update. I am having the same issue now, but dont see any build up at all. It runs full throttle when i first start it up, hits around 40mph, then the boat automatically cuts back power to run at 30mph only at full throttle. I have to turn off engine, then on again and same thing happens. Check engine light is only on at the power ignition, then goes away when its running. Super confused.
