My new lithium batteries seems to have fried my connext. I am going to still boat until i can have it replaced. Outside of monitoring fuel level and engine issues anything else that should be of concern? Engine and all other electronics still work.

thanks

The batteries didn’t fry your connext…

Its getting looked at next Tue. Hopefully that is the case. I swapped all batteries for lithium,. I have since lost connection with a trolling motor remote and the connext stop working. seems like a logical cause.

thanks

I’ve been using a LFP battery for my house battery for almost three years now with zero issues…. Charging voltage from our boats is 14.4-14.5 volts.

If you take the boat in with LFP batteries the dealer will tell you that’s the issue and if you have any warranty left the dealer will say the LFP batteries are the cause and deny your warranty.

Your trolling motor is on a different set of batteries right? Just hit pair on the trolling motor and the remote and it should re connect, I’ve had to do that a handful of times.

yes two separate batteries. good to hear. I am out of warranty so i have a local guy doing the work. He is a solid dude and i am sure he will troubleshoot properly.

I tried to re pair the remote. It connects but doesn't acknowledge GPS. I also have a micro remote that wouldn't connect. My app on the phone is working. going to boat tomorrow to try again. I do call hummingbird if needed. Thay have been helpful. They say don't go over 8.5 with lithium and disconnect motor everytime i charge

thanks

When you say "fried" is the screen totally blank? If yes, I would double check all your connections on the battery, buss bar, and the battery switches for loose connections.

It went totally blank and the tachs are going back and fourth. I will double check connections

Thanks

I used my boat also when the connext screen was fried too... no issues but run some risk not being able to monitor RPM's /fuel/engine alarms. just be extra cautious if it starts sounding or acting differently.

And you are absolutely sure all grounds and all positive cables were hooked up when you reconnected your new batteries?

thank you. will double check connections - hopefully its not fried but tachs go back and forth, I also trailered it to the Chesapeake and had 10 days in some chop so could have came loose? fingers crossed

Crud, someone else recently reported same behavior and the screen ended up needing replacement. So sorry. Hopefully not your case, keep us posted.

will do. service apt next Tuesday. boating all weekend without

Is the connext screen water proof or water resistant? In a rain storm would i need to cover it?

Yes it’s 100% waterproof. Jbp makes a cover. I have one. Don’t think it’s necessary just reduces wear and tear. Plus it slides off in extreme heat.
