2019 242x Anchor Light and Dock Lights

I just picked up a 2019 242x and am working through all the checks to identify what needs to be fixed or see that everything is good. So far, I’ve found that the Anchor light does not work (after replacing it because the one that came with it had the light dome broken off the tube) and the docking lights do not work.

I’m not too versed in electrical troubleshooting…. Where do I start?

Note - The interior, nav, and tower lights all work as intended.

Update - I found the disconnect on the anchor light, just need to track down the issue with the dock lights. Couldn't find anything obvious

are you referring to the docking lights up front for forward light? These are only on the 242 of course. I have the same issue as on of mine has failed.

I have noticed that you can use a phillips screwdriver and remove the fixture from the outside. You will have access to the lamp, which can be replaced. Start there and the lamps are labeled and pretty generic at a hardware store or amazon.

In my case, the lamp swap did not light it up. I was going to swap side to side as well, but that was over the winter in my pole building and my hands were freezing. I still need to test the fixture itself.

From what I have seen, the corrosion is horrible in these as they are not fully sealed. So i think a good contact cleaner is the next step and possibly a new fixture. But they are stupid expensive and I only use these lights when pulling into my lift at night (which is not often)

They are illegal to use while underway in most states, so we hardly turn them on. I may just throw it back together and live with one working docking light.

If you hold in your gear icon for "settings" on the Connext screen, it should bring up a screen that gives you the status of a lot of your systems. Lights will be listed in the parentheses of the systems. They give status and amp draw - should help you track down where the issue is.

I believe you're looking at the (bicolor) and (dock) lights. Turn them on first, then go to that screen to see their status.

I got stopped by the sheriff boat a couple of years ago using mine. It was after the 4th fireworks and we were motoring back to the boat landing, about 300 yards away. I had let everyone else go ahead of me to avoid the rush, and then came putting in.

I was within 75 yards of the dock and all of a sudden I had blueberries and cherries next to me, telling me I can't use my docking lights and I wasn't allowed to use red or blue on my speaker lights either! Honestly, I think he was checking more to see if we were sloshed (we weren't), but still. DUMB. I did have a couple of beers so I didn't argue with him.

Had I been stone sober I would've asked him "well should I have gotten my big ass flashlight out to see where I was going and shine everyone's eyes, or should I be using my DOCKING lights when i'm closing in on the DOCK?"

Thanks for that, I'll take a look at the lamps and check the system settings on the screen. I do see on the control screen that the display shows the lights as on (in the picture on the screen). Would that mean that the system thinks they are working?

Yes, that would mean Connext thinks they're on. I'm guessing that, if you turn them on and go to the hidden settings screen, you'll see no amp draw due to burned bulbs or bad wiring.
